THANK YOU!

Thanks to all of you who have been checking up on us! I can't believe how many people have been linked up to our blog now- from 72nd warders to the APX crew to mission friends to high school and college friends, and lots of family members! It's so great to have contact with you all and to read all your supportive comments! Just as soon as life gets settled a little more, I will get you all linked up to our blog so I can see what you are all doing as well!

Big Brother

Jaden is a wonderful big brother. He is very protective of his new baby sister and very gentle with her. He loves to hold her and give her kisses and "pet" her little head. He's also been great at bringing diapers and wipes and burp cloths and whatever mommy needs. Daddy would be really proud to see his little man stepping right up while he is gone! :) Only one more week until we are all in the same state to stay for a while!! :)

Here are a few more pictures of our little one.

Zoee is such a happy little baby, and has really given mommy an easy time. She slept for 2 four hour blocks last night already. We are so grateful to have such a sweet little mild tempered baby...

Being a mommy of 2 has been quite an adventure. The other day, after a whirlwind of bathing, teethbrushing, story reading, and getting 2 little ones to sleep at the same time, I quickly went to bed before one of them woke up. I woke up the next morning and realized that I never got my own teeth brushed before going to bed the night before. It's funny the things you forget to do sometimes! :) I sure do love my babies!!!

Zoee

Here are a couple of pics of our pretty little girl. We were surprised by Zoee's head full of black hair, considering how bald Jaden was for so long! We'll try to post some more pics of her in a better mood soon!

Baby Zoee is here!

Zoee Jane Dixon was born on August 5 at 4:55 pm. She weighed in at 7 lbs 1 oz and was 18 in long. She was 2 1/2 inches shorter than Jaden at birth. Though she is not nearly as "Weeks" looking as Jaden, she did seem to get some of the shorty Weeks genes, which Jaden has yet to manifest at all!

We started an induced labor at 12 noon and had Zoee here in just under 5 hours of labor (25 minutes of it pushing). Compared to the 13 hrs of labor - pushing for 3 1/2 of it last time, this one should have seemed like a breeze... except for the fact that Zoee was born without any pain meds at all...

The recovery time for both Zoee and I has been great. We were able to leave the hospital 24 hours after her birth and we are both doing wonderfully! I was up and around much quicker than last time, and with very little pain afterward this time. However, the delivery was an experience in pain that I never knew existed! I might think twice about every trying that one again! Yikes! :)

We feel very happy and blessed to have our healthy, beautiful baby girl here, and that Daniel was able to be here for the birth. He was a tremendous coach and support and is a wonderful daddy! He's hardly put Zoee down since she arrived. Daniel is downstairs in the rocker with 2 sleeping kids on him right now. So I'm taking the rare "two asleep at the same time" opportunity to post this quick update, while Daniel is trying not to move too much and wake one of them up!

Jaden is thrilled about his little sister's arrival as well. When Daniel brought him into the hospital, I asked Jaden if he wanted to say hi to baby Zoee. He immediately headed to my tummy to pat it and give it a kiss, when I said, "no, she's not in there anymore, she's right here (in the little bassinet)." In an adorable 2-year-old kind of understanding, he got a little bit of a confused look, then a big smile, and a "baby Zoee!" exclamation, followed by a "Reach it. Hold it. Pet it." (he still gets etiquette for puppies and babies a little confused, but he's catching on. :) He screamed when the nurse had to take the baby away for some testing later in the afternoon, but was relieved when she came back a short time later. He's really going to be a great big brother to his new little sis!

We also closed on the house, finally! Final closing was Aug 1st - only a month later than hoped for. Then Daniel flew back here to ID on the 2nd. He will be here to help until Sunday, when he's got to fly back to AZ, and I will be going just a little over a week later. Things are finally really coming together. It's been a crazy stressful time, but we are doing great. We have been very very blessed and taken care of through all the chaos.

We'll get some pics of our pretty little lady posted as soon as we can!
