Hummingbirds, trees, and haircuts...

We put up a hummingbird feeder this last weekend. I spilled about 1/4 of the liquid out trying to get it up, then the wind blew it up onto a branch and spilled the rest out the next day...so we haven't had any hummingbirds eating from it YET.

We got all of our trees planted on Saturday. I did chop into the sprinkler system once, but luckily my Dad showed me how to patch that up while he was here (because we've had a broken hose since we moved in). So I'll be fixing that up next! :) Jaden was my good little helper, and Daniel even pitched in! The trees just look like little twigs now, but they are supposed to have fruit by next year. We're hoping!

(To a special someone..Thank you for my peach tree. I love you!)

I got my hair cut again. I'm having fun with it. Daniel keeps calling me Katie. I would call him Tom, except he's way hotter...and his hair is way shorter right now. The first time I gave Daniel a haircut, the kids were in bed and it was a success. This time the kids were awake. All was quiet when we started...then Zoee got impatient and started crying...Jaden got bored and started bobbing Daniel's head around, trying to grab the clippers, and turning the water on and playing in the sink. Needless to say, I got a little distracted. And as I tried to blend the lines, his hair just kept getting shorter and shorter...he's a very nice and patient man, so he told me it looked great (I think he just wanted me to stop cutting)! Luckily hair grows back! :) I decided not to share a picture of his haircut! :)

Just the Kids

I let Jaden wear one of my t-shirts for jammies the other night. He thought that was the greatest thing ever! (I like this easy to please stage :)

He couldn't figure out what had happened to his toes, after 30 minutes of playing in the tub. He was so perplexed by those wrinkles!

Zoee started laughing for the first time last week (Jan 22). I can only get her to laugh when I make spitting sounds, though, so sorry for the mom audio. I had to turn the camera off when her laughing suddenly turned to terror, though - she's still not so sure about the camera thing! :)

Pictures and Dirt...That's All

We had a photo booth session in the rocker - it was lots of fun.
Then we decided to have dad take a picture that included all of our heads and excluded all of the feet and up the nose shots.

We've been digging holes. It's difficult to dig down 24 inches into hard Arizona dirt! Right now we have a big muddy mess...but I have a vision for my pint-sized yard! We are going to get all we can out our our cramped little space! When we are finished digging and planting and spraying and smoothing we will have a peach tree, a pear tree, 2 apple trees, a grapevine, a vegetable garden, and a fantastic little sandbox! The fruit trees are going in on Saturday (I can actually grow fruit in my backyard - I am so excited!)...and the rest will get done when it gets done.

Not much new to report this week...

We've just had a lot of sickies at our house. I think we're finally on the tail end of it, though.

TWO NAPPING AT THE SAME TIME...I GUESS THAT'S ONE REASON TO BE GRATEFUL FOR SICK DAYS..)

THE GARBAGE MAN GAVE JADEN A SPECIAL TREAT THIS WEEK - HE HONKED AT HIM AS WELL AS WAVING. JADEN WAS SO EXCITED!...(I'M SURE THE NEIGHBORS LOVED IT, TOO :)

SNEAKIN' IN TO SEE THE SIS

WE GOT JADEN SOME NEW BINS TO ORGANIZE ALL OF HIS LITTLE PEOPLE AND FARM ANIMALS THAT HE GOT FOR CHRISTMAS. TWO DAYS LATER, HE WAS MAKING GREAT USE OF THEM, AND ALL OF THE TOYS WERE ON THE FLOOR AGAIN..

Grandma & Grandpa Were Here!

My parents were able to come visit on New Year's Day, and stay with us for a few days. We had a great time cramming a lot of things into just a few days! My mom and I went to the 75% off after Christmas sale at Walgreen's and got all of our wrapping paper and some other miscellaneous nonsense for Christmas next year! Friday night after the kids were in bed, we all stayed up until 3 am playing Mexican train dominoes.

Then my mom & I decided to go to Walmart afterward to get some nuts we had seen on clearance earlier that day. It made no sense, but it sure was crazy and fun, and we got a great parking spot at that hour! When we got back home, Zoee woke up. So by the time I got her settled, I got to bed at 5 am. Then my mom and I were back up at 8:30 for a no hygiene/sweat pants morning of yard saleing. I was doing fine until we stopped at Walgreen's to get some cash, and I saw myself in the mirror, bloodshot eyes and all. I looked like I might have been on drugs as well as showerless and in sweats. Nonetheless, we had a grand old time! We even made up a song while we were driving around in our state of sleep deprivation. It goes to the tune of "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer," (if you stretch out some of the words a little):
"Grandma got run over by a car,
Walking 'cross the street to get some deals.
You can say there's no such thing as good junk,
But as for me and Grandma, we believe!
We believe!"

On another note...Grandma was willing to be the "guinea pig" to see if Zoee would take a bottle. So Daniel & I were able to leave her for the first time, and have an evening to visit the temple. It was so nice to go back after almost 6 months, and Zoee did great with Grandma and the bottle!

(Kisses!)

Jaden had a great time with Grandma "Thann" & Grandpa Dennis, going on walks, playing at the park, watching the garbage man, trying to chase down the ice cream truck, and fixing things around the house. Both of the kids loved all of the extra Grandma & Grandpa attention, and Daniel & I enjoyed the help with the kids, house cleaning, laundry (I think Grandma got to do about 10 loads during her "vacation" here), and all of the fix-it projects.

My incredibly handy dad even got up in the attic and ran some wiring and installed my ceiling fans that I got at a yard sale last Fall. We now have a fan in the living room, family room, and master bedroom. Jaden tried to help with that job by turning on the light switch while Grandpa was working. Grandpa got a little buzz, but luckily avoided a shock because he wasn't touching the live wire at that moment! After that, we made sure to keep Jadey away from the switches until Grandpa was done!

(Jaden waving at Grandpa's hand coming out of the ceiling!)

Jaden was so sad when we had to take Grandma & Grandpa back to the airplane. Mommy was a little sad, too. They stayed just long enough to leave a little homesickness! :)
