THE TALK
After Jaden gave his first talk at church, I videoed it at home. At church I held each picture after he was done talking about it. Unfortunately, at home, since I was n't standing next to him, he decided to just chuck them on the floor. I guess we'll have to work on the nice way to handle pictures of Jesus next... :)
My Little Sunshine
Jaden insisted on wearing this sunflower headband all day long. He was sure a little bright spot in a lot of people's days as we walked around Walmart and the grocery store. I haven't seen so many smiling people in a long time. It was fun... And then I got to smile again when I went to check on him before I went to bed. Not only did he have his flower on, but he was also sleeping with Zoee's new shovel. Zoee and Jaden both got new shovels to help me in the garden. Jaden's blue one was all dirty after helping me plant the garden this week, so he just snuggled in with Zoee's! Sometimes these little ones almost make my heart burst with joy...What a blessing it is to be the mommy of these silly kids!

Nerdlets
Aren't these the cutest little nerdlets you've ever seen? Jaden and Zoee were playing with their 3-D chalk out on the back cement today, complete with 3-D glasses, though Zo had to have some rubber bands around hers to hold them on her little head. I couldn't resist a photo shoot of my darling little nerds.
Valentine's Day
February 14th, Daniel and I celebrated the 5th anniversary of our first date. Since it fell on a Sunday, we did our partying the day before on the 13th. We went to a movie, had dinner at Boston's, and picked up dessert to go at Village Inn -- Yum! It was so fun and romantical...:) Daniel gave me these babies for my Valentine, and I gave him a framed list of a hundred or two reasons why I love him (I stopped counting at 140 - I don't know how many are on there!). I also gave him some Valentine's socks, as that has been a tradition since I gave him some on our first Valentine's Day/First Date. Unfortunately, the only thing I took a picture of on our wonderful day together was the flowers. Oh, well, they're pretty! :)
Firsts
Sunday was a busy day for us. I gave a talk in sacrament meeting, Zoee went to nursery for the first time and did wonderfully, no crying at all, and Jaden gave his first talk in Primary. He did so well. He and I picked out some pictures, then he helped me decide what he should say about each picture. He memorized it, and went right up front and shared it in front of all the primary kids without any help from mom. Jaden did so well, and we were so pleased with our handsome little man. His 20-second wonder went like this:
Jesus Christ is Heavenly Father's Son
Jesus Christ loves everyone.
Jesus helps us to feel better and helps us to be happy.
I want to be like Jesus
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen
Blossoms! I Guess It's Spring Here!?
Our peach tree has blossoms! We are so excited! Notice the bee in the 3rd picture. I didn't even know it was sitting there when I took the pic, or I obviously wouldn't have been standing so close! :)
We've got more lemons coming!
And we salvaged 4 teeny tiny cobs of corn from our flooded garden. We each got one bite, but it was a delcious fresh from the garden bite of corn!
A Sad Day for a Little Boy...
When our friends moved 6 months ago, they couldn't take their aquarium. So we inherited a giant gold fish. Jaden quickly claimed the fish and named him Thomas the Train. Though he loved the fish, most of the time he forgot to feed him, so I got to do it, along with cleaning his stinky tank. Well, last Wednesday, I went to check on Jaden before going to bed. I had been gone that evening, so Daniel had put the kids to bed. I opened Jaden's door and was greeted with a very foul smell. As I suspected, there was poor Thomas afloat. I got the aquarium out of Jaden's room and set it outside the back door. The next morning I had to explain what had happened. First there was confusion, disbelief, then great body racking sobs. It was so sad to see my little boy in such emotional anguish. I tried to talk to him and give him loves and calm him down. Finally, Jaden turned to me and said, "Mom, let's watch Anne." (Anne of Green Gables, one of my favorites). I couldn't help but laugh a little at my 3-yr-old seeking for comfort in Anne. However, we settled on the couch together with a blanket, and watched a movie until Zoee woke up. Later, we had a little fish funeral for Thomas the Train. Jaden was very brave, and even wanted to help dig the grave. We couldn't round up too many flowers this time of year, so we opted for a lemon from our tree to decorate the grave.:) Not much has been mentioned since then, except for an occasional questions about how Thomas is doing up with Heavenly Father ...So I think that poor little broken heart is healing. We'll keep this on the down low, but for reasons of stinky tank cleaning, mom isn't too awfully sad that the fish has moved on...

A New Calling...
Two weeks ago, I got called to be the Young Women's President. Talk about a shocker - I never saw this one coming! We have 34 Young Women in our ward, and since I had only been in the ward 8 months, before being called, I hardly knew any of them. Needless to say, life has been crazy busy lately. (Blogging may be sporatic for a while. But, hopefully, once I get the hang of things, life will settle down a bit.) I'm nervous and excited all at once. What a great opportunity to influence lives and to learn so much, but what a big job! I have already felt many blessings and so much help coming my way. I've been able to remember things, especially names (which is nearly impossible for me), get more done in less time, and have really had my heart opened to get to know and love these girls. My Heavenly Father knows I can do this, whether I know that or not. :) So, wow! Here I go!
My little garbage helpers. They not only love to watch the garbage truck come, they also get so excited when they get to help take the garbage outside...no, it doesn't take much to thrill my kids.
Jaden and his best buddy Max, watching Bob the Builder with tools in hand. Zoee loves Max, too. She's always trying to kiss him...

More Water Pics
Here are a couple more post-rain pictures that I forgot to post. The first ones are of the field across from our house where we play. Then there is the little playground around the corner with it's "moat." We had fun throwing rocks in the mud puddles. Puddles are something we rarely get to see and play in around here! :)
Potty Rebellion
So much for thinking Zo might get herself out of diapers before 2. She has decided that she is not going to sit on the potty anymore. Instead she wants to stand up to the potty. It's not workin' so well for her...:)
