State Fair Time!
READY FOR THE FAIR: JADEN IN HIS SUN HAT & ZOEE IN HER SOMBRERO
Last Saturday, we took a trip to Phoenix to the Arizona State Fair! Daniel & I love fairs, and the kids enjoyed it, too! We went on the 2-for-1 admission day, and planned to park in the free parking a ways away and hop on the shuttle. We pulled over in a business parking lot to unpack the stroller, the kids, and me, and then send Daniel back to the free parking. However, the business owner, who was charging $10 to park in his lot, told us to just go ahead and park there for free - right across the street from the fair. We must have looked pitiful with our double stroller, carseat, diaper bags, sippy cups, etc, but regardless, we were grateful to him! It's wonderful to still run into nice people! Anyway the fair only cost us $12 plus our food, and we had so much fun! This was the most kid-friendly fair I have ever seen! There were so many fun (& free:) things for Jaden to do. And they even had an air conditioned nursing room set up for me & Zoee. We were very impressed, and will definitely be making this an annual event!

NEXT UP WAS A STOP TO HEAR A THOMAS THE TRAIN STORY AND TO GET A PIC WITH THOMAS HIMSELF!
THEN TO THE RACE CAR
THE PETTING ZOO WAS A RIOT - THERE WAS EVERYTHING THERE FROM GOATS TO KANGAROOS, FROM CAMELS TO GIRAFFES, BUT JADEN'S FAVORITE WAS THE CHICKENS! :)

It's a good thing we only go the the state fair once a year. We saw every heart-stopping food you can imagine, from deep fried pickles, deep fried banana splits, to deep friend cheeseburgers on a stick. It was crazy! We only indulged in a turkey leg, and our very favorite - funnel cake! Yum!

WE DID A LITTLE BETTER ON ATTEMPT #2
Daniel and Jaden also got to go see the "Banana Derby," where monkeys ride on dogs and they race around a track. Zoee and I missed that one due to her lunch time, so unfortunately, there's not a picture of that event :)

On the way home, we got 2 fresh, juicy watermelons from a roadside stand for $5. Yay for AZ!

So Much For Routines...
A little while ago, I posted about my new morning routine, how I was exercising and getting my scripture read before the kids got up, and feeling great about it! Well, that lasted for about a week - then Zoee decided that her bedtime was 1:00 am - every night (or rather, morning). And Jaden decided he would get up at 6:30, or anytime earlier if he heard mom making a peep. I even tried getting up with Daniel at 5:00 one day to make sure I got some stuff done, and sure enough Jaden was up 20 minutes later. So now I have decided that motherhood is not about routines, it is about adjusting...so I will try try again to figure it out! :)
Daniel and I have been walking or running everyday with the kids in the new stroller after he gets home from work, which has been great, and I do get my scriptures read everyday, sometimes at 6 am, sometimes at midnight, sometimes 10 or 15 minutes in peace and quiet and sometimes a verse or two while the kids are screaming... :)
I also realized the other day just how many times I tell Jaden to hurry, and rush him along during the day...maybe it's mommy that just needs to slow down sometimes! :)
Oops! Just got another poop explosion on my lap. We need to move up a diaper size, but I can't bring myself to waste the 80 size one diapers that we have left. So I clean up poop explosions almost everyday...I think I'm ready to change sizes today... I very much dislike scrubbing poop out...good-bye for now.

Are We Becoming Arizonans Already?
This morning we woke up and the house had cooled all the way "down" to 73 degrees. Jaden told me, "Mommy, I'm getting cold in here. I need to get more clothes on." I felt a little chilly myself...until I looked at the thermostat, and then realized I must just be going crazy!

Not only is Megan the winner of a free night stay on my fabulous new couches and breakfast, but she is also one of the lucky people that still looks cute when she's pregnant. Congratulations, Megan! (Though my couches are comfy, I'm not sure that they're so comfy that you'd want to sleep on them when you're pregnant, so you may want to wait a while to come! :)

Yay For Running!
Yay, mom & dad!
We discovered some great running trails right by our house, and we enjoyed (well, sort of enjoyed) our first real run (non-treadmill) in almost a year. Daniel had a lot easier time than me, and I'm a little sore, but it really did feel great to get out and run again. Thanks to craigslist, we got a smokin' deal on a great jogging stroller!
In celebration, Jaden sang us his favorite song. Not really, it was just too cute to not throw into this post.

Saturdays are for Super Sales!
I'm crazy about yard sales, my husband just thinks I'm crazy period.
Last week I got a metal step ladder at a yard sale for $5, a touch lamp for baby Zoee's room for $1, and a bookshelf for free that I am going to repaint. We've already used the ladder several times. It's a great thing to have in a shorty house!
This week I had some good finds. All new in the boxes, I got: an electric juicer $3, a small fan for Jaden's room $2, and a mini food chopper for $1. And my final find was...a set of furniture! I think I got a great deal, but Daniel was a little shocked, and wasn't sure about my find. I told Daniel I would forgo any birthday presents, and stay home from yard sales for the next month, so he would feel better about me buying the furniture. I'm okay with the birthday thing, but I'm not sure how long I can really stay away from the sales! :) Besides, he really liked the furniture once we got it into the house and he saw how nice and comfy it was!
Here are some pics of my new furniture- an olive green colored matching couch, loveseat, and oversized chair. I want you all to guess how much I paid for it, so I can see if you think it was a good deal as well! Put your guesses in the CBox just to the right of this post. Whoever gets closest will win a great prize...probably a free night stay at my house on my new couches! I might even cook you breakfast! :)

Zoee
Little Zoee is starting to "talk" now. Although it is only gooing and cooing, it still excites mom!
She can grasp things with her hands well now. I gave her Jaden's rubber snake to hold to demonstrate her skills, but she wasn't too thrilled with it.
She has been smiling for about a month now, but I've had a hard time catching one with the camera. Today was my lucky day, so I'm sharing it with all of you!
The last thing I have to report is that she's going bald - it's so sad when the mullet starts showing up! :)

FUN FRIDAY!
Last Friday we picked Daniel up after work and had a fun family activity.
We have a picture of the Anchorage temple on our wall, and Jaden is always talking about wanting to see the temple. So our first stop was to walk around the outside of the Mesa temple. Jaden was so excited to touch it! :)
Then we went on to the Phoenix Zoo. Jaden loved it! We had a hard time getting any close up pictures of the animals, but here are a few of our pics below.
